Illusion of a Future

I think that life would suddenly seem wonderful to us if we were threatened to die as you say.

“Just think of how many projects, travels, love affairs, studies, it–our life–hides from us, made invisible by our laziness which, certain of a future, delays them incessantly.”

Marcel Proust

  1. I think that’s kinda like wishful thinking on Proust’s part. A sort of dreaming of what might have been had he done more. I think that can becoming punishing too rather than make us move to do. After all, is it mere laziness that keeps us from our dreams? I don’t think so.

    • I hear that. And agree…generally the quotes I put up have various shades of application and layers of intention. What I wanted to get to here is the notion that one can “talk later” or “get together later”…

…only to discover that later is now, and the chance to do what was always assumed has passed by and cannot be recovered.
